The popular artificial intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT, also called Chat Generative Pretrained Transformer, was created by OpenAI . It was first released in November 2022 using OpenAI's GPT-3.5. A second release based on GPT-4.0 was released soon after in March 2023.
Aim: The aim of this systematic review is to examine the Impact of ChatGPT on Nursing Education.
Methods: The articles to be included in the study were published in the databases of Science Direct, Web of Science, Springer Link, Ovid, CINAHL, Pubmed, Cochrane library, Proquest, without year limitation. The search was conducted in English using the terms “ChatGPT, nurse education, clinical trials”.The titles and summary of the studies were reviewed by researcher and five studies were included in the review.
Results: In the studies, the impact of ChatGPT on the nursing and interdisciplinary research ecosystem has been reported to be profound. For example, in a recent study, AI-supported protein design was presented and proteins that never existed before were discovered. In addition, ChatGPT has recently been used in various scientific questions such as intelligent transport; drug discovery and nursing education, research and practice.
Conclusion: ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionize nursing education by giving students real-time feedback, individualized training, and simulated scenarios to practice and improve their knowledge.
